Zeitfuchs Cross-Arm Viscometer, Size 7
The Zeitfuchs Cross-Arm Viscometer, Size 7, is a specialized laboratory instrument designed for accurately measuring the kinematic viscosity of transparent and opaque liquids. It is particularly effective for testing bituminous materials like road oils and asphalt cements, adhering to industry standards at specified temperatures, such as 140°F (60°C) and 275°F (135°C). This specific model, Size 7, is calibrated for a viscosity range of 600 to 3,000 centistokes (cSt) with an approximate constant of 3.0 cSt/s, ensuring precise and repeatable results with an accuracy of ±0.2%.
A key design advantage of the cross-arm style is its minimal sample volume requirement, needing only 1 to 3mL of liquid. This efficiency minimizes waste and simplifies testing. The viscometer's construction allows it to be conveniently filled, tested, and cleaned while fully immersed in a constant temperature bath, which streamlines the workflow and maintains sample temperature stability. For proper operation, a minimum immersion depth of 9 inches (230mm) into the bath is required.
Each Zeitfuchs Cross-Arm Viscometer is delivered with a Certificate of Calibration, guaranteeing its accuracy and traceability to recognized standards. A separate 2-inch (51mm) diameter holder is necessary to secure the viscometer within the viscosity bath.
Features:
- Viscosity Range: 600–3,000 centistokes (cSt)
- Approximate Constant: 3.0 cSt/s
- Precision: ±0.2% of the stated range
- Convenience: Can be filled and cleaned while immersed, reducing handling time
- Small Sample Size: Requires only 1–3mL per test
