The Zeitfuchs Cross-Arm Viscometer (Size 6) is a specialized laboratory instrument designed for the precise measurement of kinematic viscosity in transparent and opaque liquids. It is particularly well-suited for testing viscous materials like asphalt binders, bitumen, and road oils, adhering to standardized test temperatures such as 140°F (60°C) and 275°F (135°C). This model is part of a series that covers an extensive viscosity range from 0.6 to 100,000 centistokes (cSt), ensuring high accuracy and repeatability.

With a viscosity range of 200–1,000 cSt and an approximate constant of 1.0 cSt/s, the Size 6 model offers exceptional precision, with a stated accuracy of ±0.2%. Its unique cross-arm design facilitates easy filling and cleaning while the viscometer remains immersed in a temperature-controlled bath, which significantly streamlines the testing workflow and reduces handling errors. The required sample volume is minimal (1 to 3mL), making it efficient for tests where sample material is limited.

For proper operation, the viscometer must be submerged to a minimum depth of 9in (230mm) in a Constant Temperature Viscosity Bath. Each unit is individually calibrated and supplied with a Certificate of Calibration, guaranteeing its accuracy and traceability.
