The Bronze Cube Mold with bronze clamps have a diagonal arrangement and come fitted with a detachable brass base plate, while the Stainless Steel Cube Mold is designed to meet ASTM and AASHTO standards. Both metal molds are accurately machined to produce 2-inch cubes, in the cube mold, in a diagonal position for compression testing. This cube mold is perfect for testing cement mortar when used with a cover plate. The bronze cover plate is sold separately.

We also offer 3 gang stainless steel cube mold and bronze cube mold kits that including a tamping rod and curing cover with bronze clamps. Both come with self-aligning thumb screws to ensure an even fit and hold the two mold halves securely. With the kits, the cover plate is included. It’s reusable, has a detachable base plate, and is held together by self-aligning thumb screws to ensure a strong, tight fit. Why Do I Need a Cube Mold?

The cement cube mold plays a crucial role in cement mortar tests, which are important for determining the strength of the material. They are used to form samples of mortar or concrete for various tests, including compression testing. These molds provide a standardized shapes and sizes for consistent and reliable evaluation of materials, including Portland Cement. 

Most cube molds are made of rigid materials like metal or plastic. They are designed in the shape of a cube, with sides measuring 50mm (2 inches) or 100mm (4 inches) in length. Using Cube Molds for Compression Testing

For compressive strength testing, these molds are filled with a mixture of cement, aggregate, and water in specific proportions. The tester carefully compacted the mixture into the mold to ensure uniformity and eliminate air voids. After leveling the top surface to remove excess material, the cube is set. Then, after the initial setting, the cube samples are demolded and cured under controlled conditions, usually in a curing chamber or water bath.

Once the designated curing period is complete, the cube samples are subjected to compressive loading using a testing machine. The load is applied gradually until failure occurs, and the maximum load at failure is recorded. This load is used to calculate the compressive strength of the material.
