Instrument Features

The Universal Penetrometer is a direct reading instrument for precision penetration testing of various materials, bituminous materials, cement, petrolatum, waxes, food, cosmetics and pharmaceutical products. The instrument has a rugged aluminum base with machined grooved table and leveling screws for precise leveling. The cast aluminum head has coarse/fine adjustments for accurate and sensitive measurements.

The instrument comes with a friction free plunger mechanism and an indicator dial with instant zero-reset, graduated in 400 divisions of 0.1mm, corresponding to 40mm penetration. The 5” diameter indicator dial provides clear and precise readings. Two stainless steel rods act as support guides for accurate and sensitive measurements.

The Universal Penetrometer comes with a standard 2.5g ASTM D 5 Needle and two additional loading weights (50g and 100g) made of stainless steel. The weights are designed to give precise measurements and the rubber inserts protect the tips of the needles and cones. The instrument also has a 47.5g plunger assembly and support guides made of stainless steel.
