Application and Installation Guidance:
For Thermocouples: To maintain signal integrity, it is crucial that the extension wire material matches the thermocouple type being used. For these Type T connectors, you must use Type T extension wire, where the positive leg is copper and the negative leg is constantan. This prevents signal distortion and ensures accurate temperature readings.
If your setup includes a transmitter installed within the thermocouple sensor assembly, you can use standard copper wire to transmit the converted (4 to 20) mA analog signal back to your process control equipment, simplifying wiring over long distances.
For RTDs: While these specific plugs are for thermocouples, it's useful to know that RTD sensors operate differently. They use standard copper instrumentation cable to carry the resistance signal to the control or readout device. Similarly, if an RTD assembly includes a transmitter, copper wire is used to carry the resulting (4 to 20) mA signal.
