Product Overview
Thermocouples are the most common, convenient, and versatile devices for measuring temperature across a vast range of industrial, commercial, and scientific applications. They are essential for process control, providing accurate data to controllers and recorders.
How Thermocouples Work
A thermocouple functions by converting heat into a measurable electrical signal. It consists of two wires made from dissimilar metals, which are welded together at one end to form a "hot" junction. This is the sensing end that is placed in the environment to be measured. The opposite end forms a reference junction.
When the hot junction is heated, a temperature gradient is created along the wires, generating a small voltage known as an Electromotive Force (EMF). This EMF is measured at the reference end and directly corresponds to the temperature at the hot junction. By selecting the right combination of wires and protective sheathing, thermocouples can accurately measure temperatures from as low as -200°C (-328°F) to as high as 2316°C (4200°F).
Pyromation Quality and Versatility
Pyromation is a leading manufacturer of high-quality thermocouples designed for nearly every market application. This includes:
- MgO (Magnesium Oxide) Insulated Thermocouples: Ideal for high-vibration, high-temperature, or corrosive environments.
- Industrial Thermocouples: Robust designs for heavy-duty process applications.
- General-Purpose Thermocouples: Versatile and cost-effective solutions for a variety of needs.
We also specialize in creating complete thermocouple assemblies for specialized environments, including hazardous locations. These assemblies can be configured with connection heads, protection tubes, thermowells, and integrated transmitters to meet your exact specifications.
Technical Details for this Model:
