Thermocouple, Type J, Ungrounded Junction, 3/16in OD, 12in Length, Male Plug
Thermocouples are one of the most reliable and widely used temperature measurement devices in industrial and commercial applications. Their convenience, versatility, and accuracy make them ideal for monitoring and controlling temperature in a variety of processes, from manufacturing and energy production to food processing and laboratory use.
A thermocouple works by converting heat into measurable electrical signals. It consists of a welded 'hot' junction, where two dissimilar metals—commonly wires—are joined, and a reference junction at the opposite end. When the 'hot' junction is exposed to a heat source, a temperature gradient is created, generating an Electromotive Force (EMF). This EMF is measured at the free ends of the wires and converted into readable units of heat calibration, allowing precise temperature monitoring.
Type J thermocouples, in particular, are highly popular for their wide temperature range and dependability. They are composed of iron and constantan (a copper-nickel alloy), making them suitable for temperatures ranging from -200°C to 760°C (-328°F to 1,400°F). This type is especially well-suited for environments where lower temperature limitations are required, such as plastics manufacturing, heat treating, and HVAC systems.
The ungrounded junction design of this thermocouple offers electrical isolation between the thermocouple and its sheath, reducing noise interference and improving accuracy—critical for sensitive or high-precision applications. Its 3/16-inch outer diameter provides durability, while the 12-inch length ensures versatility for various installation needs. The male plug enables quick and secure connectivity, streamlining setup and maintenance.
Beyond Type J thermocouples, Pyromation manufactures a comprehensive range of thermocouples to suit diverse industries and conditions. Our offerings include MgO (Magnesium Oxide) thermocouples for high-temperature and corrosive environments, as well as industrial and general-purpose types. We also provide custom thermocouple assemblies tailored for hazardous locations, featuring components such as connection heads, thermowells, protection tubes, and transmitters to meet specific application requirements.
With the ability to operate across an extensive temperature range of -200°C to 2316°C (-328°F to 4200°F), Pyromation thermocouples deliver exceptional performance and durability in even the most demanding environments. Whether you need a solution for extreme heat, hazardous settings, or everyday industrial processes, Pyromation offers the quality and innovation you can trust.
