How It Works

Step 1 — Set your grade. Run a string line or laser at the finished slab elevation to establish your target height.

Step 2 — Choose your mounting structure. Use 1/2" rebar, all-thread rod, or a similar structure (3/8"–5/8" also compatible). The FinCap's internal fins grip the mounting structure securely to keep it in place throughout the pour.

Step 3 — Load the assembly. Insert the mounting structure into the FinCap, then place the MAKO Driver over the top.

Step 4 — Drive to height. Strike the MAKO Driver with a mallet until the marker aligns with your string line. Your screed support is now set at the correct finished slab elevation.

Step 5 — Repeat spacing. Install screed supports every 3–4 feet along each screed run, adjusting spacing based on sub-grade conditions and screed length.

Step 6 — Set your screed rail. Place your 1.5" ID / 1.9" OD galvanized screed pipe into the FinCaps. The top of the rail will automatically sit at finished grade. Note: A 2" or 1-1/4" screed pipe can also be used, but the string line elevation will need to be adjusted accordingly.

Step 7 — Place and screed. Strike off the concrete using a hand or mechanical screed. Slide the screed rail along the chairs as you go, fill the voids left behind with concrete, and finish with a bull float.

Step 8 — Leave in place. Once the pour is complete, the FinCaps remain permanently embedded in the slab. No removal is necessary, and the slab surface remains undisturbed.
