Length Comparator, Mortar/Cement Bars, 16in Effective Length
Overview
A Length Comparator is a precision instrument used to measure length changes in cement paste, mortar and concrete specimens. It’s a must have in construction, engineering and research industries. The device consists of a precision unit with a sensitive indicator mounted on a heavy duty, dual post frame for stability and support.
Description
The Length Comparator is a precise instrument used to measure length changes in cement paste, mortar and concrete specimens. Meets ASTM and AASHTO specifications for accuracy and reliability. Precision unit with sensitive indicator on a heavy duty, dual post frame for stability and support.
Key Components
A digital indicator, or optional dial indicator, gives highly accurate readings of length changes, so you can monitor even the smallest changes in specimen dimensions. For exact zeroing and calibration the invar reference bar is included, it’s very stable and has minimal thermal expansion, essential for maintaining measurement accuracy over time.

Length Comparators measure changes of hardened cement paste, mortar and concrete prismatic specimens. Indicators, including a digital indicator mounted on a heavy duty vertical support, are attached to a solid triangular base. All units include anvils designed to fit gauge studs which are cast into test specimens and invar reference bar. The anvil assembly has an elevating screw and nut collar for precise specimen positioning and secure adjustment during testing. Comparators for 10” (254mm) or 16” (406mm) effective length samples with 3.625” (92mm) dia. dial gauge with a range of .400” and gradations of .0001”. The Dial is marked 0-10. Includes stationary and movable anvils designed to fit the H-3260 gauge studs that are cast on test specimens and invar reference bar. Unit will accept test specimens up to 4” x 4” (102 x 102mm) cross section. Battery operated, included.
