The Self-Contained Basic Swell Consolidometer is designed for conducting swell and expansion tests on soil specimens with diameters of 2.44in (62mm) or 2.50in (63.5mm). This compact and efficient tool eliminates the need for a separate loading frame, delivering rapid and reliable results to assess soil swell potential.

How It Works:

Soil specimens are compacted into a stainless steel Compaction Ring and placed in the Consolidometer between two Porous Stones. The assembly is loaded with 60 or 100psf (2.87 or 4.7kPa) using the included Loading Weight. After setting the dial indicator to measure the initial sample height, the Consolidometer is filled with water to commence testing.
