RTD Assembly with Tri-Clamp Fitting, 100 Ohm, 1/4" OD Sheath, 4" Long, 2" 16 AMP Tri-Clamp Cap, Polypropylene Head
This RTD assembly is designed to deliver precise and reliable temperature measurements for a wide range of applications. Featuring a 100 Ohm platinum resistance element, it ensures high accuracy, repeatability, and excellent interchangeability. Its durable construction and advanced design make it an ideal choice for industries requiring robust and sanitary temperature sensing.
Key Features:
- Resistance Element: 100 Ohm Platinum RTD (PT100), offering excellent accuracy and stability.
- Sheath Dimensions: 1/4" OD sheath with a length of 4", manufactured from high-quality 316 stainless steel (316SS) for superior corrosion resistance.
- Tri-Clamp Fitting: 2" 16 AMP Tri-Clamp cap, ensuring a secure and sanitary connection for clean-in-place (CIP) and sanitary applications.
- Head Material: Polypropylene head, known for durability and chemical resistance.
- Temperature Range: Capable of operating in extreme conditions, from -200°C to 200°C (-328°F to 392°F), making it suitable for both cryogenic and high-temperature environments.
How It Works: Resistance Temperature Detectors (RTDs), also known as resistance thermometers, function by utilizing the predictable change in resistance of specific metallic elements with temperature. A small excitation current is applied to the RTD element, and the resulting voltage, proportional to resistance, is measured and converted into temperature readings. This ensures highly accurate and consistent temperature monitoring.
Construction Details: The RTD element is manufactured using two main methods:
- Wire-Wound Elements: A precision wire is wound around a ceramic or glass core for maximum accuracy.
- Thin-Film Elements: A metallic film is plated onto a ceramic or glass substrate for compact size and durability.
The element is then sealed within a protective ceramic or glass capsule, ensuring long-term performance even in harsh environments.
Lead Wire Compensation: Since RTDs often have a low resistance (typically 100 Ohms) and a small resistance change per temperature unit, lead wire resistance is compensated for using three- or four-wire bridge configurations. This ensures accurate readings even in applications requiring long lead wires.
Applications:
- Sanitary industries such as food and beverage, dairy, and pharmaceuticals
- Industrial process monitoring
- Chemical and petrochemical processing
- HVAC systems
- Cryogenic systems
