Proceq Pundit PL-200 Pulse Velocity Tester

The Pundit PL-200 and PL-200PE are the first instruments with a new generation and design-protected Touchscreen Unit. After the first mention of the touchscreen, it’s worth noting that the device has a color rugged touchscreen unit designed for harsh environments. They are meant to be used on-site, in harsh environments for various applications while providing extra measurement modes. The Pundit PL-200 and PL-200PE has a new generation and design-protected Touchscreen. This screen has the highest resolution and sharpest image of any comparable product in the market. Together with a dual-core processor it gives the best possible analysis of the measured pulse velocities and waveforms. This includes quantification and visualization of measured pulse velocities in concrete testing. Up to 100,000 A-Scans can be stored on the device. And advanced ultrasonic products currently being developed will be compatible, extending the application range and making the Pundit Touchscreen a future proof investment

The Pundit PL-200 has extra measurement modes and features for on site testing: Measuring concrete uniformity with standard A-Scans and the new Line Scan functionality, estimating compressive strength of concrete or measuring surface velocity and depth of perpendicular cracks. The intelligent software has settings directly accessible from the measuring screen and multiple trigger modes and zoom functionality to allow precise determination of transmission time. The instrument also has user adjustable trigger threshold for more control and sensitivity during testing. The measuring screen dual cursor feature allows manual A-Scan evaluations with precise measurements of signal amplitude. A wide range of transducers for the Pundit PL-200 are available. The device supports third party transducers, for more flexibility and compatibility with various testing needs. Instruments such as the Concrete Penetrometer provide additional options for accurate measurement of concrete setting time and consistency, essential for quality control in construction. The same instrument can be used with different types of transducers for various measurement techniques, pulse velocity, surface velocity and crack detection. The waveforms settings are directly accessible to increase efficiency and precision of data collection during concrete testing. The Pundit PL-200PE uses state-of-the-art pulse echo technology to extend the ultrasonic application to objects where access is only available from one side. The measurement is assisted by Proceq innovations such as advanced echo tracking and automatic estimation of pulse velocity. The A-scan mode allows direct analysis of the raw signal and the real-time B-scan mode gives a cross-sectional view perpendicular to the scanning surface. This allows the user to measure the slab thickness and to localize subsurface defects such as voids, pipes, delaminations and honeycombing. Control buttons and optical feedback on the probe increases measurement efficiency and makes the instrument even more user friendly.

What is Non-Destructive Testing

Non-destructive testing (NDT) is an essential tool to ensure the safety, reliability and longevity of materials and structures across industries such as construction, manufacturing and engineering. By allowing to assess the material integrity without causing any damage, NDT methods help to identify potential problems before they become critical. One of the most common NDT methods is non destructive concrete testing which measures the speed of ultrasonic waves through a material. This method is particularly useful for concrete as it can reveal information about material uniformity, detect internal flaws and overall quality. In addition to these methods, a Pulse Echo Foundation Tester is also frequently used for accurate structural insights and deep foundation testing. The Pundit PL-200 Pulse Velocity Tester is a state-of-the-art on-site testing solution with multiple measurement modes. These include standard pulse velocity measurement, surface velocity measurement and advanced options like line scan and area scan. With its versatility the Pundit PL-200 ensures accurate and efficient testing of materials, making it an essential tool for professionals who need reliable results in the field.

Overview

The Pundit PL-200 is designed to deliver top performance in non-destructive testing even in the toughest on-site environments. With a design-protected touchscreen unit with the highest resolution and clarity the device allows A-scan inspection and intuitive operation. A powerful dual-core processor drives advanced analysis of measured velocities and waveforms so the user can quickly and easily interpret the test results.

Up to 100,000 A-Scans can be stored on the device, data logging is robust and easy to track and review over time. Compatibility with future ultrasonic products will make the device a future proof investment. Whether for routine inspections or complex material testing the Pundit PL-200 has the reliability and flexibility for modern non-destructive testing applications.

Measurement Modes and Testing

The Pundit PL-200 has multiple measurement modes to fit various on-site testing requirements.

Explore various construction materials testing equipment essential for assessing material quality and structural integrity:

  • Pulse Velocity Measurement Mode: For pulse velocity measurement in concrete, rock, wood and ceramics. Provides material properties and integrity information.

  • Surface Velocity Measurement Mode: For material quality evaluation. Measures surface velocity to get information about the surface of the material.

  • Data Logging Measurement Mode: For long term monitoring. Automates the measurement process for continuous data collection and analysis over time.

  • E-Modulus Measurement Mode: Measures the material properties, a key parameter for material properties and application suitability.

  • Compressive strength Correlation Measurement Mode: Using ultrasonic pulse velocity correlation estimates the compressive strength of the material non-destructively, for structural assessment.

  • Crack Depth Measurement Mode: Measures perpendicular cracks depth, to evaluate structural integrity and safety of the material.

  • Line Scan Measurement Mode: Measures pulse velocity along a line to evaluate material uniformity, to ensure quality across the tested area.

  • Area Scan Measurement Mode: Measures pulse velocity over a larger area to evaluate material quality and uniformity. The area scan grid is user defined, color coded map that displays pulse velocity or depth variations across a structure, to analyze and detect defects. The measurement grid can be defined by the user to fit specific testing requirements. Results are presented as color coded results, to easily identify areas of concern at a glance.

During A-Scan or waveform evaluation, manual triggering is available to manually trigger the measurement for more control and precision. These multiple measurement modes make the Pundit PL-200 a versatile and powerful tool for various on-site testing.
