This device helps users meet the latest ASTM C39/39M standards, which now require alignment verification within ±0.5° of vertical for every specimen tested when using Unbonded Caps.
How it Works: Once specimen loading begins and before reaching 10% of the total load, the PVD is placed on the bottom platen of the compression machine and carefully positioned against the concrete cylinder. Using the included Gap Measurement Tool, users can easily check the alignment. If the Gap Tool cannot pass through the space between the device and the cylinder, the specimen is properly aligned, and testing can proceed without interruption. This simple process ensures compliance with ASTM standards and enhances testing accuracy.
