Grout Flow Cones measure the flowability of fluid hydraulic grout by the flow cone method used in grout for preplaced aggregate concrete flow. Flowability is measured by the efflux time of a 1.725L sample of fluid grout through the 0.5in (12.7mm) ID discharge tube orifice from the cone. You gotta measure the efflux time to determine the consistency and suitability of the grout for construction. The standard flow cone is made of cast aluminum and is used to measure flowability of fluid grouts, has a 7in (178mm) top ID and an adjustable point gauge assembly to show the initial sample level. This test concrete flow cone method is also applicable to other fluid grout for preplaced aggregate so it’s versatile for many construction applications.

Flow Cone Set is similar to HM-372, but the flow cone has a special 3/4in (19mm) Orifice for less flowable grouts and meets ASTM D6449 test standard for quality control in construction projects. The exact amount of grout and water used in the test is critical for consistent and reliable results.

Flow Cones, Orifices and other set components are also available separately. Flow Cones come with point gauge measurement assembly and are available with or without 0.5in or 3/4in Orifices. Both Orifice sizes are compatible with HM-371 Flow Cone and can be interchanged. Flow Cone dimensions are 7x12in (178x305mm), IDxH. The painted Steel Stand is 20.5in (521mm) high. The 2qt (1.9L) Stainless Steel Beaker is sized to hold grout from one test and graduated in oz and cc. The 6qt (5.7L) Stainless Steel Beaker can hold grout from up to three tests.

To perform the Grout Flow Cone Test:

1. Choose the correct flow of grout into the cone with the right orifice for the grout being tested.

2. Wet the inside of the flow of grout into the cone to prevent grout from sticking.

3. Place your finger over the discharge opening to prevent grout from flowing out too soon.

4. Pour the grout sample into the cone until the grout surface touches the pointer.

5. Start the stopwatch and remove your finger at the same time.

6. Stop the stopwatch when the grout flow from the discharge opening stops.

7. Record the efflux time, the time shown on the stopwatch.
