Cement Prism Molds for Volume Change Tests, 4 x 4 x 10in, Single

Single Prism Mold forms 10in effective gauge length prism test bars. This mold makes 1 x 10 inch cement prism specimens for various testing applications. Testing applications include potential alkali reactivity, autoclave expansion, expansion of Portland cement, volume change of cement, length change of mortar, and linear change of magnesium. Also used with a Length Comparator to measure Portland cement paste, mortar, and concrete prism or concrete beam samples. These molds make cement prism specimens for standardized tests, including mortar prism tests, and these tests determine volume change of cement, autoclave expansion, and length change of mortar. Mold is suitable for making specimens from different types of cement including magnesium and oxychloride cements and for testing cement aggregate combinations. Information from these tests is used to determine suitability of different types of cement, mortars and units for specific masonry applications. Water content and other factors in making mortars and conditions under which specimens are tested affect volume change and length change tests.

Mold has base plate, removable partitions and end plates made of corrosion-resistant stainless steel to provide 10 effective gauge length which is measured from inside end of studs. Partitions, base and end plates ensure 10" effective gauge is achieved. Dimensions from outside end of Gage Studs for Mortar Bars are 11.625in (296mm) which is outside length of specimen including end of studs and this outside length is important for meeting ASTM standards. Specimen cross-sections are 3x3in (76x76mm).
