The Zeitfuchs Cross-Arm Viscometer, Size 9, is a precision instrument designed for measuring the kinematic viscosity of liquid asphalt (bitumen), road oils, and asphalt cements. This specific model is ideal for testing highly viscous materials, covering a viscosity range of 6,000 to 100,000 centistokes (cSt). Its design adheres to the stringent standards of both AASHTO T 201 and ASTM D445, D446, and D2170/2170M, ensuring reliable and accurate results for quality control and research applications.
A key feature of the Zeitfuchs® Cross-Arm design is its operational efficiency. The viscometer requires only a small sample volume of 1 to 3mL and can be conveniently filled and cleaned while remaining immersed in a constant temperature bath. This minimizes handling and reduces the time between tests. For proper operation, the viscometer must be submerged to a minimum depth of 9in (230mm) in a Constant Temperature Viscosity Bath, which helps maintain the required test temperatures, such as 140°F (60°C) for road oils or 275°F (135°C) for asphalt cements.
Each unit is electronically tested and comes with a Certificate of Calibration and an instruction sheet, guaranteeing its accuracy with a precision of ±0.2% within its stated range.
