Why It's Important

It is important in construction to create structurally sound and solid foundations. Our molds meet AASHTO T specs for accurate testing so you can build solid foundations and meet stability requirements. The base plate is key in keeping the mold during preparation.

Load Bearing Capacity

Compacted is a stable foundation. Increased density means roads, buildings and infrastructure won’t deform or fail. Use our standard compaction mold with 1/30 cu. ft. volume to meet density and strength requirements. Denser can bear more weight!

Prevents Settlement

Don’t neglect soil compaction and you’ll get air voids and particle shifts that causes settlement—a downward movement of the ground due to surface stress. An adjustable collar allows for mold size changes, it’s versatile. Our products, compactors and molds push loose together for a stable foundation.

Slope Stability

Compaction is important for geotechnical structures like dams, retaining walls and highways. Our detachable extension collar secures the mold during compaction, minimizes water infiltration and soil movement and reduces erosion and landslide risk. Enhanced structural integrity will help you meet project requirements and follow building codes.

Drainage and Moisture Control

Better drainage and moisture management will keep water levels in check, no swelling and erosion. Compact your soil with our products for a controlled subgrade that will extend your project’s lifespan.

Types of Compactors

Soil compactors are used in construction and engineering to compact materials for desired density and stability. Here are the types:

Mechanical Compactors: Uses mechanical system, often with hammer or rammer for precise density control.

Automatic Compactors: Uses automation for fast and accurate, for large project use.

Hand Compactors: Manual tools for small jobs or tight spaces, cost effective and easy to use.

Pneumatic Compactors: Uses compressed air, for large projects with limited access, power and efficiency.

Knowing the types of compactors will help you choose the right one for your project, for optimal density and stability.

Automatic Compactor

Our automatic compactor is designed for fast and accurate with adjustable drop height and preset number of hammer blows. For labs and testing facilities, it’s a must have for projects that requires high accuracy and reliability.

Typically has a frame, hammer or rammer and control system, the hammer applies pressure to the soil in a compaction mold. Users can set hammer blows and drop height for consistent results, automatic compactors is a must have where precision matters.

Automatic Compactors

Choosing the right compactor is crucial for the results. We have several types, each for specific use.

Mechanical compactors are efficient and accurate for large projects. Handheld compactors for small projects, increased density with cost effectiveness.

Vibratory plate compactors for granular like sand or gravel, smooth drum rollers for cohesive for smooth surface.

Automatic compactors for big projects that needs consistency and efficiency. Manual compactors like Manual Standard and Modified Soil Compaction Hammers for modified tests are for use at varying moisture levels.

Compactors have different operating principles: static, dynamic and vibratory. Static uses weight, dynamic uses impact force and vibratory uses vibration. Each has its own advantages.

Compaction Molds in Modified Tests Quality Control

Proctor molds are cylindrical containers for sample testing, meeting ASTM and AASHTO. These molds, such as 6x12in concrete cylinder molds, allow a controlled environment to measure weight, dimension, and density, which are important for construction and geotechnical engineering.

Why use compaction molds:

When choosing a compactor and mold, consider the testing scale and condition. High-quality machines and models that fit your project and testing standards are a must.

Type and weight are important. Use vibratory plate compactors for granular and smooth drum rollers for cohesive. Big projects need big machines, while small projects require handheld compactors for compacting in populated areas.

Plate compactors are suitable for shallow depth, while vibratory machines are better for deeper compaction. Choose molds that can access moisture below the surface as needed.

Our molds have wing nuts to base plates. We have compactors, molds, rollers, and machines for your construction project.

Calibration and Testing

Calibration and testing is important for accurate soil compaction test. The calibration kit for the soil compaction test ensures automatic compactors produce the same result as manual one, includes lead cylinder and accessories.

Calibration involves preparing the mold, setting compactor blows and drop height, placing the lead cylinder, running the compactor, measuring deformation and adjust as needed.

Calibration is important to ensure reliable test results, to avoid errors and inconsistencies.

Safety Precautions

Safety first when using automatic compactors! Remember:

  • Wear protective gear, safety glasses and gloves.

  • Calibrate and maintain before use.

  • Follow the manufacturer’s instruction.

  • Keep the compactor away from children and unauthorized users.

  • Operate in well ventilated area away from flammable materials.

  • Don’t overload.

These precautions will ensure safe and successful experience, for both users and equipment.
