Soggy Bottom Sampler Upper Lead Internal Rod
The Soggy Bottom Sampler Upper Lead Internal Rod offers a dependable and efficient solution for discrete sediment sampling in aquatic environments like rivers, lakes, wetlands, and estuaries. Designed to prevent sediment collapse, this manually-operated sampler ensures precise and controlled sampling every time.
To collect a sample, the sampler is lowered into the water or driven to the desired depth using its dual-tube system. Once the target depth is reached, the inner rods connected to the internal drive tip are retracted and removed. Additional extensions can be added if needed. The internal drive tip is locked in place at the top of the sampler, and a slide hammer is used to drive the sampler further into the sediment for sample collection.
After collecting the sample, the sampler and rods can be removed using back-hammering. For tougher or compact sediments, the removal jack and pull cap provide extra assistance in extracting the sampler. Disassembly is simple, giving users quick access to sample liners for sealing and transport to the lab.
Key features of the Soggy Bottom Sampler include dual o-rings on the internal drive tip to reduce cross-contamination and a core catcher system to prevent sample loss during retrieval. The sampler supports both continuous and discrete sampling, reaching depths of up to 4 feet.
The sampler kit includes all essential components for seamless operation: a 4-foot by 1.5-inch O.D. plastic liner, two 2-foot by 1.5-inch O.D. plastic liners, a metal catcher, a plastic basket retainer, three 3-foot extensions, a 30 lb. slide hammer, cleaning brushes, and a padded carrying case for convenience.
With its durable design, user-friendly operation, and comprehensive accessories, the Soggy Bottom Sampler Upper Lead Internal Rod is the ideal tool for environmental researchers, consultants, and professionals who require reliable and precise sediment sampling.
