Pumpsaver Electronic Desiccator
AASHTO T-209 & ASTM D2041 | U.S. Patent US RE 46,616E
The Pumpsaver is a revolutionary device designed to remove moisture from the air before it enters your vacuum pump. This process significantly extends the life of vacuum pumps by preventing water contamination, which is a leading cause of pump failure and reduced performance. Unlike traditional desiccant dryers that can restrict airflow and require constant maintenance, the Pumpsaver increases your pump's efficiency by providing a clear, low-resistance path for air. By eliminating the need for desiccant materials, you save time, reduce operating costs, and ensure more consistent vacuum levels.
An Environmentally Friendly and Cost-Effective Solution
The Pumpsaver is an environmentally conscious choice that reduces waste and operational expenses. This electric desiccation system eliminates the need for disposable desiccant canisters and in-line moisture filters. By keeping water out of your pump, it drastically reduces the frequency of vacuum oil changes, saving on oil costs and disposal fees. Say goodbye to expensive, flow-restricting desiccant cartridges that quickly become saturated and risk damaging your valuable vacuum pumps.
How It Works
The Pumpsaver is installed in-line between the equipment requiring a vacuum (like a Rice Test pycnometer) and the vacuum pump itself.
It operates using a high-performance thermoelectric module, also known as a Peltier device. This solid-state component creates a significant temperature difference, chilling an internal collection chamber. As moist air and water vapor are drawn from your equipment, they pass through this super-chilled chamber. The rapid cooling forces the moisture to condense out of the airstream and collect as liquid water inside the chamber. The resulting dry air then exits the outlet port and flows safely to your vacuum pump.
The self-contained unit includes a power supply, fan, heat sink, thermoelectric module, and the cooling chamber, all integrated into a compact design. To use, simply connect the Pumpsaver into your vacuum system and switch it on a few minutes before starting your test. This pre-cools the chamber, ensuring maximum moisture removal from the very beginning. After the test, any accumulated water is easily drained or wiped out with a cloth or paper towel.
Key Advantages of the Pumpsaver Electronic Desiccator
- Reduces Operating Costs: Drastically cuts down on the number of vacuum oil changes required each year.
- Improves Pump Efficiency: Allows the pump to work more effectively by removing restrictive desiccant cartridges from the line.
- Increases Pump Lifespan: Protects internal components from water damage and corrosion, extending the service life of your pump.
- Enhances Accuracy and Repeatability: Enables your pump to achieve the desired vacuum level faster and more consistently, leading to more reliable test results.
- Eliminates Recurring Purchases: Puts an end to the cycle of buying, replacing, and disposing of desiccant materials.
- Ideal for Asphalt Testing: Perfectly suited for use with ASTM D2041 and AASHTO T-209 (Rice Test) equipment to ensure accurate specific gravity measurements.
