2-Gang Prism Mold is used for length-change testing of Portland cement paste, mortar or concrete. It’s also used for autoclave expansion tests to evaluate the dimensional stability and expansion characteristics of Portland cement and its composites. It’s also used with the Length Comparator to measure length change in cast prisms from alkali-silica reactivity (ASR) and other such testing applications. The mold produces effective gauge lengths for measuring length changes and volume variations in concrete specimens and cement prism specimens. The mold has a base plate, molds feature removable partitions, end plates of stainless steel and steel inserts to provide the required length between ends of Gauge Studs cast on ends of bars. These molds are also used for testing linear change and volume change of magnesium and oxychloride cements. Dimensions from outside length of gauge studs are 11.625in (296mm) with specimen cross-sections of 1x1in (25x25mm). This mold is used to assess potential alkali reactivity in cement/aggregate combinations.
