The Marshall Stability Load Frame from Gilson is a versatile and powerful tool for asphalt mix design testing. Capable of handling a wide range of asphalt test methods, this load frame is designed to perform Marshall stability and flow tests, as well as many other asphalt tests that take advantage of its strain rate range and load capacity. These tests are typically performed at a strain rate of 2.0in (50.8mm) per minute.
Marshall stability and flow testing is a well-established method for measuring the plastic flow of asphalt paving mixtures. The Marshall Stability Load Frame can be used to perform a variety of tests, including:
Indirect Tensile Strength (IDT) or Lottman Test: This test evaluates moisture susceptibility and allows the calculation of tensile strength ratios (TSR), providing valuable information about the durability of asphalt mixtures in wet conditions.
Interlayer Shear Strength (ISS) Test: This test measures the shear strength of tack coats between asphalt layers, helping to ensure the structural integrity of multi-layer asphalt pavements.

The large 8in (203.2mm) diameter test platens and threaded adjustable crossheads can easily accommodate a variety of test fixtures, while the sturdy, 16ga powder-coated steel cabinets are built to withstand rugged use in lab environments.
