How to do a Slump Test

1. Prepare the Slump Cone: Place the slump cone on a flat surface, clean and debris free.

2. Fill the Slump Cone: Fill the slump cone with fresh mixed concrete, using a scoop or tamping rod to compact as you go.

3. Compact the Fresh Concrete: Use the tamping rod to compact the concrete in 3 layers, each layer fully compacted before the next.

4. Strike the Surface: Once the slump cone is filled, strike the surface 25 times with the tamping rod to remove air pockets.

5. Lift the Slump Cone: Lift the slump cone carefully and let the fresh concrete flow before it is poured.

6. Measure the Slump: Measure the slump by how far it flows from the original height of the slump cone.

7. Record: Record the results to check the workability of the fresh concrete.
