Blaine Air Permeability Manometer Fluid, 8oz

Blaine Air Permeability Manometer Fluid is a non-mercury red spirit indicating fluid used with the Blaine Air Permeability Apparatus to test the fineness of Portland Cement. The 8oz (240ml) bottle is a refill.

Features:

  • Meets AASHTO and ASTM standards

Product SDS

Blaine Air Permeability Apparatus measures the fineness of Portland Cement by measuring the specific surface area of fine materials in square centimeters per gram of test sample. A quantity of air is drawn through a bed of definite porosity, and the rate of airflow is determined by the pore volume in the bed, a function of the size of particles. Portland cement fineness is critical as it directly affects the resistance of cement particles to air flow, industry standards recommend 10% for Portland cement.

The apparatus consists of a stainless steel test cell, plunger, perforated disc, calibrated U-tube manometer, rubber aspirator and bulb, all mounted on a wood panel with base. 8oz bottle of red spirit manometer fluid, pack of filter paper and woodblock for holding the test cell during filling. Red manometer fluid is required for accurate testing in accordance with ASTM C-204 and AASHTO T-153.

NIST Portland Cement #46h is required by ASTM and AASHTO standards for calibration.
