3in x 12in Multi-Stage Sludge and Sediment Sampler, 3/4in Thread

This sampler features a disposable plastic core catcher and a rubber check flap on a specialized top cap to enhance the recovery of saturated materials.

When deploying the sampler, the check flap on the top cap opens, allowing excess air and water to escape through four machined holes. This ensures smooth airflow and water passage. As the sampler reaches the sediment, saturated materials push through the core catcher and into the liner inside the sampler body. The venting action of the check flap and top cap prevents pressure buildup, enabling easy sample entry into the liner.

During retrieval, the core catcher closes under the weight of the sediment, preventing material from escaping through the bottom. Simultaneously, the check flap seals the top cap holes, creating suction inside the sampler. This suction further secures the collected sample within the sampler body.

Optional extension sections can be added to the base, allowing for the use of additional or longer liners. Valved core and auger tips are also available to improve sample quality in extremely non-cohesive, saturated materials.
