24 x 5/8in Stainless Steel Tamping Rod with Measuring Scale
Tamping Rods are used in the consolidation of fresh concrete specimens in test applications for the slump, air content, and strength in accordance with many ASTM and AASHTO standards. The stainless steel rods are corrosion-resistant, with hemispherical tips at both ends. They come in varying lengths and diameters and are available in four models.
Tamping Rods are 24x5/8in (610x16mm) LxDia. The HM-48 model has a measuring scale with 1/4in increments engraved on one side, while the HM-48A model has no measurement markings. Both models are for use in consolidating 6x12in (152x305mm) concrete cylinder specimens. These rods meet ASTM C143 and AASHTO T 119 standards when testing the workability of fresh concrete with Slump Cones. They also conform to ASTM C31/31M for curing concrete specimens in the field, and in testing air content of concrete by volumetric, gravimetric, or pressure method as indicated in ASTM C173, ASTM C138, and AASHTO T 152.
V015.HM-47 Tamping Rod is 12x3/8in (305x10mm) LxDia. It is required for testing in compliance with ASTM C31 as one of the methods of consolidation when molding 4x8in (102x203mm) concrete cylinder specimens.
V015.HM-63 is 18x3/8in (457x10mm) LxDia. It also meets ASTM C31/31M for consolidating 4x8in (102x203mm) concrete cylinder molds and complies with Canadian Standard CSA A23.2-3C.
Tamping rods also conform with other standards for preparing concrete specimens and slump tests. These include AASHTO M 205 and British Standard BS 1881.
