10lb Soil Compaction Hammer (Modified)
Soil Compaction Hammers are sliding drop Proctor hammers designed for Proctor Compaction tests on soil samples. Gilson's Standard and Modified Hammers are constructed from 100% 303 stainless steel, ensuring maximum corrosion resistance and durability for a long service life. The hammer masses are enclosed in guide sleeves with vent holes that enable an unrestricted free-fall for accurate results.
A heavy knurled hexagonal cap is securely welded to the tube, providing a comfortable, non-slip grip during use and preventing the hammer from rolling during storage. All models have a 2in (51mm) flat, circular striking face.
Soil Compaction Hammer (Modified): Features a 10lb (4.5kg) hammer mass with an 18in (457mm) drop.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (COE) compaction hammers include a recoil mechanism in the foot assembly to minimize wear on internal components. These hammers also feature a removable and replaceable tamping face and allow for slight drop height adjustments.
Key Features:
- 100% 303 stainless steel construction for corrosion resistance (Standard and Modified models)
- Knurled hexagonal welded cap for a secure, comfortable grip (Standard and Modified models)
