Whitehouse Sieve Standards No.450 (32 micrometer)
Whitehouse Sieve Standards offer a precise and efficient method for calibrating No.6 (3.35mm) and finer sieves, with full traceability to NIST. Calibration is quick and easy, taking just minutes without the need to send sieves away or take them out of service. Regular checks using these standards can help determine when sieves need replacement.
Each Whitehouse Standard includes five single-use vials of glass beads, designed for a specific sieve size. One vial is sufficient for 8in or 200mm sieves, while two to five vials are needed for larger sieves up to 18in or 450mm in diameter. After processing, the average aperture is easily read using the provided calibration graph.
Whitehouse has been trusted by the Community Bureau of Reference (BCR) to produce standards for the European Community. These standards are traceable to NIST, NPL, and BCR. The glass beads, made from soda-lime glass with a specific gravity of 2.45, are highly spherical and certified for size using electroformed sieves, microscopy, and image analysis.
For sieves with No. 450 (32µm) openings, Whitehouse Sieve Standards are supplied with five vials, each containing a nominal weight of 1.0g.
