One vial is sufficient for 8-inch or 200mm sieves, while larger sieves (up to 18-inch or 450mm) may require two to five vials. Once processed, the average aperture is easily determined using the included calibration graph.

Whitehouse has been designated by the Community Bureau of Reference (BCR) to produce standards for the European Community and ensures traceability to NIST, NPL, and BCR. The glass beads are made from soda-lime glass with a specific gravity of 2.45, featuring high sphericity. Their size is precisely certified using electroformed sieves and verified through microscopy and image analysis.
