The Portable Bulk Scale is a multi purpose solution for weighing and mixing in agriculture, construction and manufacturing. Tough and feature rich this scale will give you accurate weight and improve mixing. Manual or digital we need you, our Portable Bulk Scale is the one for you.
Weigh Buggy Measures
The manual Portable Bulk Scales (864 or 864M) will help you mix more and save you time and labor. The scale can weigh gross and net. The weigh buggy measures include dimensions and weight capacities to fit your operation. None of the beam sticks out above the top of the hopper. 1,000 pound capacity hopper is 12 and 14 gauge steel and rides on 10” and 6” rubber tired wheels. Hopper has quick gravity bottom discharge 10” x 14” and is controlled at the operators end of the buggy. 304 grade stainless steel is used in the construction for durability and ease of maintenance. Unit has push handle and wheel brakes. Scale counterweight is included and installed prior to shipping. Weights on the rod will not fall off with the rod basket in place.
36-1/2” W x 42” H, front of hopper is 32-3/4” H. 17 cu.ft. capacity hopper (about 800 lbs. of shelled corn) sits on a beam scale where the main beam reads 1000 lbs. x 100 lbs., and the fractional beam reads 100 lbs. x 1lb. and the metric unit reads 455 kg. x 45 kg. on the main beam scale and 50 kg x 200g on the fractional beam scale.
digital Portable Bulk Scale (864D) is the same as the 864 but has a 120 Plus digital weight indicator with rechargeable battery pack. Indicator will read in pounds and ounces or kilos and grams. 120 Plus has large (0.82”) six-digit LCD display with printer port (output only) and RS232 communications at up to 38,400 BPS with 500-character print ticket format (printer not included).

How Weighing Works
Weighing is a critical process in many industries such as agriculture, construction and manufacturing. It’s measuring the weight of materials, products or equipment to be accurate, efficient and safe. To get the net weight you subtract the tare weight from the total weight. In the case of dump buggy weighing the process is to load the buggy with the material to be weighed, place it on the scale and record the weight. This ensures the material is measured accurately which is important for quality control, resource optimization and industry compliance.
Preparing the Buggy for Weighing
Before you weigh the buggy you need to prepare it properly to get accurate readings. First make sure the buggy is empty and free of any debris or obstructions that could affect the weight measurement. Gross weight is the weight of the buggy and material, net weight is just the material. Next check the buggy’s weight capacity to make sure it’s within the scale’s range to avoid overloading. Place the buggy on the scale, make sure it’s centered and stable so it doesn’t tilt or distribute weight unevenly. Finally calibrate the scale if necessary to get accurate readings. Proper preparation is key to getting reliable and consistent weights.
Weighing
Weighing the buggy is to place it on the scale and record the weight. Subtract the tare weight to get the net weight. A digital portable bulk scale can improve mixing accuracy and weighing solutions. The scale should have a digital weight indicator that displays the weight in a clear and easy to read format. This reduces the chance of errors. The digital portable bulk scale can handle various materials and weights so it’s perfect for industries that require accurate and reliable weighing.
Safety
Safety is a big consideration when weighing dump buggies. Knowing the gross weight and net weight is important for safety from overloading. Make sure the scale is properly installed and maintained to prevent accidents and get accurate readings. A scale with a sturdy construction like a stainless steel frame can handle heavy loads and be durable. Implementing safety features like handle and wheel brakes can prevent the buggy from moving during weighing and reduce the chance of accidents. And make sure the operator is trained and experienced in using the scale and handling the buggy to ensure a safe working environment.
Selecting a Digital Portable Bulk Scale
Choosing the right scale for dump buggy weighing is important for accuracy, efficiency and safety. Consider the following when selecting a scale:
-
Capacity: Choose a scale with a capacity that matches the buggy’s weight capacity to avoid overloading and get accurate readings.
-
A scale with a tare function can get you accurate net weight.
-
Accuracy: Choose a scale with high accuracy like a digital portable bulk scale with 6 digit LCD display to get precise weights.
-
Durability: Choose a scale with a sturdy construction like a stainless steel frame to handle heavy loads and long lasting performance.
-
Safety Features: Look for a scale with safety features like handle and wheel brakes to prevent accidents and safe operation.
Tips for Weighing
To get accurate weighing:
-
Calibrated Scale: Calibrate your scale regularly to get accurate readings.
-
Position the Buggy: Place the buggy on the scale properly to avoid errors caused by uneven weight distribution.
-
Digital Weight Indicator: A digital weight indicator displays the weight in a clear format to avoid misinterpretation.
-
Quick Gravity Bottom Discharge System: This system gets you accurate weighing by allowing quick and complete discharge of materials.
-
Metric or Fractional Beam: These options gives you more precise weights which is important for some applications.
-
Scale Counterweight: A scale counterweight ensures stability and accuracy during weighing.
-
Consistent Construction: A scale with the same construction as the manual beam scale maintains consistency and reliability in weighing.
-
Know the Difference Between Gross Weight and Net Weight: Knowing the difference between gross weight and net weight is important for accurate readings and to avoid errors.
By following these tips and selecting the right equipment you can get accurate and reliable weights for your dump buggy and improve efficiency and safety in your operations.
