Triaxial Load Frame: 0.00001 - 0.29999in / min, 10,000lbf
The 7631 Karol-Warner Load Frame is an affordable load frame machine that can do multiple soil tests. 10,000lbf (44.5kN) capacity and 0.00001 – 0.29999in/min (0.000254 – 7.619mm/min) strain rate covers California Bearing Ratio (CBR), Unconfined Compressive Strength (UC), Triaxial and Soil Cement Testing when equipped with proper load and displacement components. 3/4hp DC drive motor controls speed to within ±1%. Strain rate is controlled in mm/min for accurate test results.
14-gauge steel cabinet w/ hard-coat enamel finish and precision loading screw with protective boot can handle the toughest lab environments. Front panel controls and screen display allows the operator to control the direction and speed of the 8in (203mm) platen and select the strain rate. 8in (203mm) platen diameter can fit various sample sizes. 1.25in (32mm) diameter rods allow for quick change to crossarm height. All metal parts are plated for corrosion resistance.
Various accessories are available for this load frame to customize the system for different testing applications and optimize the setup for your soil testing needs, including a mobile mixer.

Overview
Triaxial load frames are the backbone of modern soil testing labs, providing the precision and control to evaluate the mechanical properties of soil specimens under various conditions. By applying a triaxial load to samples in a test cell and confining them with controlled pressures, these frames allow engineers and researchers to perform multiple triaxial tests. The load capacity of triaxial load frames, typically 10,000 to 20,000lbf (44.4 to 89kN), is suitable for various testing requirements from routine quality control to advanced research. Whether in academic, commercial or construction settings, triaxial load frames are necessary to assess soil behavior, support geotechnical design and construction.
Components
A triaxial load frame consists of several key components that work together to provide reliable and repeatable results. At the core of the system is the load cell that measures the force applied to the soil specimen. The data acquisition system captures and records all data, provides real time feedback and a comprehensive record for analysis. The front panel with digital readout and easy to use controls allows the user to set up parameters, monitor progress and make adjustments as needed. The platen, available in various diameters to fit different sample sizes, ensures even distribution of the load across the specimen. The pore pressure transducer plays a crucial role in measuring pore water pressure in the soil which is important to understand soil behavior under load. The system allows for precise rate of load application to meet required standards and specifications. All these features make the load frame a versatile and user friendly tool for soil applications.
Triaxial load frames are designed to perform a wide range of soil strength and deformation, making them essential in soil testing labs and geotechnical investigations. Among the most common applications are triaxial tests which measure the shear strength and stability of soil specimens under loading and confining pressures. These frames are also used for consolidated drained (CD) and consolidated undrained (CU) tests which provide valuable information on soil behavior under different drainage conditions. Unconfined compressive strength (UCC) can also be performed which gives a quick assessment of soil strength without lateral confinement. With the ability to perform at various rates and with different soil types, triaxial load frames are highly versatile, supporting from routine soil classification to advanced research in soil mechanics and foundation engineering. By providing accurate and repeatable results, these machines help engineers make informed decisions on soil suitability and design parameters for construction and infrastructure projects.
