U.S. Sieves are available in brass or stainless steel frames with wire mesh screens made of either brass or stainless steel, designed to meet ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) specifications. Most sieves are 8" in diameter with a 2" full height (or 1" half-height), but 3" and 12" diameters are also offered. You can choose from the following combinations: brass frame/brass wire mesh, brass frame/stainless wire mesh, or stainless frame/stainless wire mesh. All frames are skirted for easy nesting. For specialty sizes like half-height or 3" and 12" diameters, feel free to contact us.

Understanding Part Numbers:

• Mesh Size: The first number indicates the ASTM mesh size.
• Frame and Cloth Material: The next two letters represent the materials—Brass (B) or Stainless Steel (S). For example, a brass frame with stainless steel mesh will have the letters "BS."
• Diameter: The following number specifies the diameter, such as 8" or 12".
• Height: The final letter indicates Full (F) or Half (H) height.

For instance:

• A sieve labeled 40BB8F has 40 mesh, a brass frame with brass mesh, an 8" diameter, and a full height of 2".
• A sieve labeled 50SS12F has 50 mesh, a stainless steel frame and mesh, a 12" diameter, and a full height of 4 ¼".

Some sieves may use inch measurements instead of U.S. Sieve Series mesh sizes. A "0" in the first position indicates the frame and skirt only, allowing you to add your own screen material.
