To use, lower the sampler as a dual tube or drive it to the required depth. Once there, remove the inner rods attached to the internal drive tip and add extensions if needed. The internal drive tip is secured in a chamber at the top of the sampler, allowing you to attach the slide hammer and drive it further to collect your sample. After collecting the sample, the rods and sampler can be extracted using a back-hammering technique. For tougher sediments, the optional removal jack and pull cap make rod and sampler removal effortless. The system disassembles easily, granting access to sample liners that can be capped and transported to the lab.

Key features of the Soggy Bottom Sampler include dual o-rings on the internal drive tip to reduce cross-contamination and a core catcher to prevent sediment loss. Its versatility allows for both continuous and discrete sampling to depths of 4 feet.
