The Point Load Tester is a robust and portable apparatus designed for accurately determining rock strength index in both field and laboratory environments. Compliant with ASTM D5731 standards, this versatile unit provides a reliable method for classifying and characterizing rock material.

Engineered for precision and safety, the tester features a durable load frame equipped with a hydraulic ram capable of applying loads up to 50kN (11,240 lbf). A high-precision 50kN pancake load cell is integrated with the upper conical platen to ensure accurate force measurement, while the lower platen is mounted on the jack piston. The large, easy-to-read digital indicator continuously monitors the applied force and captures the peak load at the moment of failure, with readings available in kg, lb, kN, g, and tons.

For user safety, transparent protective shields are installed on the front and back of the testing area, safeguarding the operator from rock fragments that may disperse upon specimen failure. A graduated scale, marked in both inches and millimeters, is attached to the frame to facilitate precise distance measurements between the conical platens before testing.

The portable design and its capacity to accept core specimens up to 4" (101.6mm) in diameter make the AG-4150 an essential tool for geotechnical engineers, geologists, and civil engineering professionals.
