The Liquid Limit is the water content at which soil transitions from a liquid to a plastic state. It is determined using a Liquid Limit machine, where two halves of a soil sample flow together after being jarred 25 times in a precise manner.

We provide both motorized and hand-crank-operated Liquid Limit machines to suit your needs and budget. Options include models with an automatic impact counter for precise operation or a cost-effective hand-crank model without a counter. Each machine features a brass cup and carriage, designed to control the drop height to exactly 1cm onto a durable rubber base. The drop height can be easily adjusted using the nut at the rear of the cup carriage and the included plastic Casagrande Grooving Tool. For convenience, the cup is removable for cleaning or inspection, and all mechanical components are made from solid brass with rubber feet to stabilize the base.

This model features a built-in counter and a specially geared motor to ensure consistent operation at 1.9–2.1 drops per second. An on/off switch is included for ease of use.
