Strain Gauge Set with Analog Dial Indicator (U.S. units)

Strain Gauge Set is used to measure physical strain in materials or structural components under load, movement in structures, opening or closing of structural cracks, shrinkage of concrete block during curing and similar applications. Anodized aluminum alloy instrument frame adjusts for 2, 4, 6, 8 or 10in (5, 10, 15, 20, 25cm) spacing of Punch Bar and Invar Master Bar used, with a maximum linear measurement to ensure accuracy in all concrete block testing situations. Compared to Whittemore strain gauge this set is a versatile and reliable alternative for structural load testing and crack monitoring.

Strain Gauge Set with Analog Dial Indicator (U.S. units) has U.S. units of measure and 0.0001in graduations, 0.4in travel and 0.3in range of strain measurement.

Strain Gauge Set with Analog Dial Indicator (Metric units) has metric units of measure and 0.002mm graduations, 10mm travel and 7.6mm range of strain measurement.

Strain Gauge Set with Digital Dial Indicator (U.S./Metric units) has digital indicator units of measure that can switch between U.S. and metric units with 0.0001in or 0.001mm graduations. Digital dial indicator has data output interface and 5,000 hour battery life.

Storage Case has slots for Invar Master Bar for Strain Gauge and Strain Gauge Punch Bar – both are separate items and available in Imperial or Metric. Master Bar has stainless steel seat inserts to check gauge space settings. Punch Bar has one fixed point and one moveable point and is used to locate the position of brass Inserts in the specimen.

  • Anodized aluminum alloy instrument frame adjusts to Punch Bar and Invar Master Bar

  • Mountable Brass Inserts have stainless steel Contact Seats

  • Hardened steel Contact Points

  • 5,000 hour battery life

Included Items:

  • Strain Gauge Set- Strain Gauge Dial Indicator (Analog U.S. or Metric, or Digital U.S./Metric units)

  • Eight Brass Inserts

  • Two Contact Seats

  • Two mounted Contact Points

  • Wooden Storage Case

Measuring Relative Structural Displacements

Measuring relative structural displacements in structures is a key aspect of structural analysis and the Multi-Length Strain Gauge Set is designed to measure this movement. The gauge set can be used to measure movement of structural components under load so engineers can assess the structural integrity of buildings, bridges and other infrastructure. By measuring relative structural displacements, engineers can identify potential problems before they become major issues and ensure the safety and stability of the structure. This proactive approach helps to maintain the longevity and reliability of various structural components making the Strain Gauge Set an essential tool in structural engineering.

Features and Components

The Multi-Length Strain Gauge Set is a complete package that includes the following features and components. Instrument frame is cast aluminum alloy for durability and stability. Gauge set includes strain gauge, dial indicator, 8 brass inserts, 2 contact seats, 2 mounted contact points, invar master bar, punch bar and compartmented wood storage case. Dial indicator has 0.0001in minimum graduation for precise measurement. Gauge set includes stainless steel contact seats and stainless steel seat inserts for accurate and reliable measurement. All these components work together to make a robust and precise measuring system for various structural analysis and concrete block testing applications.

Strain Gauge Set Test Methods

The Multi-Length Strain Gauge Set can be used with various concrete block testing methods to measure strain in structural components. The gauge set can be used to measure strain in masonry type materials, structural components under load and opening or closing of structural cracks. The gauge set can also be used for rock mechanics testing and drying shrinkage of concrete block testing. The gauge set meets ASTM C426 standards for accurate and reliable measurement. This versatility makes the Strain Gauge Set suitable for a wide range of applications from masonry structure integrity to detailed rock mechanics testing so engineers can make informed decisions.

Strain Gauge Set Test Methods to Measure Strain

This Strain Gauge Set meets the following test methods:

The gauge set is designed to measure strain in various materials including masonry and concrete under load. It’s used to assess structural integrity, monitor opening and closing of structural cracks and relative structural displacements rock mechanics testing. This includes measuring relative structural displacements in rock which is critical to evaluate the performance of structures under different conditions.

In addition to the above the gauge set is also used for measuring relative structural displacements rock mechanics. This is measuring strain in various structural components and materials under load which is required to assess relative structural displacements and comprehensive rock mechanics testing.

Accessories to Strain Gauge Set:

Invar Master Bar checks space settings of gauge and is available in Imperial or Metric. Required to verify calibration of Strain Gauge.

Strain Gauge Punch Bar provides accuracy to locate the brass inserts in the specimen and is available in Imperial or Metric. Required with Strain Gauge Set.

Strain Gauge Contact Seat is stainless steel threaded into Brass Inserts for measurement.

Strain Gauge Brass Inserts mount in test specimen and hold threaded Contact Seats.

Strain Gauge Contact Point is hardened steel, mounts in Strain Gauge frame and is in Contact Seats when measuring strain. These are used for applications such as structural cracks measuring relative displacements, to measure strain in masonry and structural components under load.
