The Gilson Silent Sifter II is an advanced laboratory sifter designed for efficient and quiet particle sizing. It significantly reduces operational noise, up to 18dB quieter than standard rotary sifters, and 8–10dB quieter than the original Silent Sifter, thanks to its proprietary silencing technology and sound-deadening cabinet materials. This makes it ideal for laboratories prioritizing worker protection and noise reduction, while also minimizing dust levels.

This sifter excels in aggregate gradations, a preferred method by state departments of transportation. It handles a wide particle size range from 1 inch to No. 635 (25mm–20µm) and is instantly convertible for 8-inch, 12-inch, 200mm, or 300mm test sieve diameters. Its capacity is impressive, accommodating up to twenty 8-inch half-height sieves or six 12-inch full-height sieves, including a pan, without the need for clamping.

Operation is user-friendly: simply load the sieve stack, close the door, tilt to the test position, and press start. Sieves are continuously rotated by rubber-covered stainless-steel drive rollers, with mechanical hammers aiding particle separation.

The robust, tightly sealed MDF cabinet is CNC machined to precisely confine airborne particles like quartz and silica, protecting personnel and simplifying cleanup. Heavy-duty commercial-grade hinges allow the full-width door to swing open easily for loading and unloading. The unit sits on a sturdy powder-coated steel stand with 4-inch locking swivel casters for easy mobility.

Safety is paramount, with test sieves and drive mechanisms enclosed to prevent injury. Bearing and rod safety covers eliminate exposed moving parts, enhancing OSHA compliance. The tapping hammer assemblies are made of 6061 aluminum alloy with durable UHMW Polyethylene heads. A dependable 1/4hp continuous-duty motor powers the system, and a safety interlock switch disables the sifter and resets the timer if the door opens during testing.

A digital countdown timer/controller offers precise operation up to 99 minutes and 59 seconds (±1sec), with a pause function and a 5-second audible alarm upon completion. Settings are saved between cycles for convenience.
