The Geotechnical Gauge is a durable, water-resistant plastic card (5x7in or 127x178mm) designed for soil classification. Equipped with a lanyard for convenience, this double-sided card is packed with essential tools for geotechnical professionals. It features six color chips, four grain size patches, and tables for classifying soils by particle size using the Unified Soils Classification System. The card categorizes coarse and fine-grained soils into 15 descriptive categories, from gravels and sands to silts and clays, and further distinguishes sands by density (very loose to very dense) and clays by consistency (very soft to hard). Soil categories are defined by appearance, handling properties, and field or lab test results. The edges include dual scales: 0–6in and 0–110mm.
