G2 Superpave Gyratory Compactor

Gyratory Compactors

Gyratory compactors are used in both mining and construction projects to compact and process various materials such as concrete, asphalt and soil. With a unique gyratory motion, these machines apply low static compression and shearing action to produce dense high quality specimens. Gyratory compactors (also known as gyratory) are valued for their ability to compact across different types making them essential in producing construction and ore processing in mining sites. They work efficiently with other techniques like crushing and screening to streamline the processing workflow. By compacting with less energy and faster, gyratory compactors play a big role in modern mining and construction.

G2 Superpave Gyratory Compactor Components

The G2 Superpave Gyratory Compactor has a robust design and engineering with several key components that ensures precise and efficient compaction. At the heart of the gyratory is the main shaft with the vertical actuator that generates the gyratory motion and pressure to compact the materials. The conical surface formed by the gyratory angle allows for even force distribution during compaction. A load cell is integrated into the system that provides real time data of the applied load and allows users to monitor and adjust the process for maximum efficiency. The spider assembly and eccentric assembly are critical in supporting the main shaft and controlling the movement for effective compaction. With adjustable speed and gyratory angle, the G2 can be configured to different types of materials and applications making it a versatile solution for both construction and mining.Compacting a gyratory compactor involves a complex process of low static compression and high shearing action to achieve optimal compaction. The machine’s main shaft driven by a vertical actuator rotates to create a gyratory motion, forms a conical surface that applies uniform pressure to the material inside the mold. This is similar to the action of a gyratory crusher used in mining for ore processing but the compactor is designed to densify materials like concrete and asphalt not crush rock. During operation the system provides real time direct shear and compaction data so users can monitor and adjust the process as needed. The result is a very efficient compaction process that produces consistent high quality specimens for construction and mining applications such as compaction tests.

Features

Specimen Size

This flexibility means the compactor can compact both 150-mm and 100-mm specimens and is high productivity in laboratory. For asphalt mixes with rubber that expands when cooling, Pine offers an optional Cooling Door Kit. This kit has a built-in fan to cool the directly in the gyratory and reduce expansion and downtime.

Multiple Compaction Modes

The G2 has three compaction modes:

  • Number of Gyrations: Stops after a defined number of gyrations.

  • Compact to Height: Ends when a target height is reached.

  • Locking Points: Stops when the height change between gyrations reaches a user defined limit.

Optional Gyratory Shear Measurement

Add to your G2 the optional gyratory shear measurement feature which records shear data during compaction.

Maintenance and Repair

To keep a gyratory compactor in peak condition and extend its life regular maintenance and timely repairs are necessary. Main shaft, actuator and load cell should be inspected and serviced regularly to prevent wear and ensure accurate operation. Sensors and data should be calibrated to maintain precise control of the compaction. The G2 is designed to be durable and resistant to harsh working conditions but like any high performance it needs proactive maintenance. The requirements are similar to primary gyratory crushers used in ore where regular maintenance is necessary to sustain maximum performance and reliability. By following the recommended maintenance schedule can ensure their gyratory compactor operates efficiently and compacts consistently.

Why Customers Love the G2

The Pine G2 Superpave Gyratory Compactor is a customer favorite for its reliability, ease of use, consistent performance and strong customer support. Whether you are working with asphalt, soil or concrete the G2 delivers great results with minimal effort.

The Pine G2 Superpave Gyratory Compactor is designed for laboratory compaction of asphalt and other materials, not industrial crushing like gyratory and jaw crushers. Gyratory crushers are often installed vertically and use a circular motion of the crushing head and concave liners and a receiving opening to process large rocks and ore. Jaw crushers are primary crushers while gyratory crushers are primary and secondary crushers. The main shaft rotation and vertical adjustment are critical for efficient operation to process large volumes of material and reduce rocks to smaller sizes including sand for further use.
