Fritsch PULVERISETTE 2 Mortar Grinder: The Gold Standard for Material Preparation
The Fritsch PULVERISETTE 2 Mortar Grinder is an essential laboratory tool, offering universal performance for the grinding, mixing, and homogenizing of a wide range of materials. Whether your sample is hard, medium-hard, soft, brittle, fibrous, or abrasive, this grinder delivers reliable and reproducible results. It is the ideal choice for processing samples in both wet and dry conditions.
How It Works: Precision Grinding Through Pressure and Friction The grinder operates on the classic mortar and pestle principle, but with enhanced control and efficiency. The pestle, rotating at a consistent 70–80rpm, applies pressure and friction to the sample material against the inner walls and bottom of the mortar bowl. This gentle yet effective action ensures uniform particle size reduction without introducing significant thermal load, preserving the integrity of heat-sensitive materials.
Key Features and Benefits
- Adjustable Pestle Pressure: The downward pressure of the pestle can be precisely set and locked, ensuring consistent and reproducible grinding results for every run.
- Loss-Free Operation: The grinding chamber is fully enclosed, featuring a large acrylic window and integrated LED lighting for clear observation of the process. This design prevents sample loss and contains dust, ensuring a clean and safe working environment.
- Easy Sample Handling: Materials, liquids, and other additives can be safely added during the grinding process through a dedicated opening in the cover. The mortar bowl and pestle lock securely in place but are designed for quick, tool-free removal for easy cleaning between samples.
- Contamination-Free Grinding: To prevent sample contamination, grinding sets (mortar bowl and pestle) are available in seven different materials: agate, sintered corundum, hardmetal tungsten carbide, hardened steel, hard porcelain, zirconium oxide, and stainless steel.
- Durable and Safe Design: The mortar bowls are encased in a robust shell of shock-resistant plastic. This protects the valuable grinding bowl from damage and provides a stable, secure setup for optimal operation.
Grinding Set Requirement A complete Grinding Set, which includes a mortar bowl and a pestle of the corresponding material, is required for operation and is purchased separately.
Applications This grinder is trusted across numerous industries for its versatility and reliability:
- Agriculture: Soils, seeds, grains
- Pharmaceuticals: Tablets, drugs, botanicals
- Geology & Mining: Ores, minerals, coal, coke, slag, aggregates
- Construction Materials: Cement, clinker, ceramics, glass
