Durability Index Agitator
The Durability Index Agitator is a specialized piece of equipment designed to determine the durability of aggregates. It measures the relative resistance of an aggregate sample to producing clay-like fines when subjected to a standardized mechanical agitation process within a special washing vessel. This test is crucial for assessing the quality and long-term performance of aggregates in construction applications.
The resulting fines from the agitation process are then evaluated using the Sand Equivalent Test, requiring separate sand equivalent apparatus.
Key features of the Durability Index Apparatus include:
- Dual Functionality: In addition to its primary function, this versatile unit can also be used as a sieve shaker, capable of holding up to six standard 8-inch testing sieves and a pan.
- Stable Operation: The agitator is designed with holes in its case flanges for secure mounting to a floor or workbench, ensuring stability during its 285 cycles per minute operation.
- Ready to Use: It comes complete with a power switch, cord, and plug for immediate setup. Please note that the required Wash Vessel must be ordered separately.
Specifications:
- Overall Dimensions: 16 x 14 x 30 in (406 x 356 x 762 mm), WxDxH
- Electrical: 115V/60Hz
Compliance: This apparatus meets the requirements of the following standard test methods:
- AASHTO T210
- ASTM D3744
- California Test Method 227
