Dickey John Moisture Tester: Handheld Grain Analysis Equipment
Handheld Grain Moisture Tester: Moisture Analyzer Plus
Grain Analysis
Grain analysis is the backbone of the agricultural industry, ensuring grains meet the quality and safety standards for human consumption and animal feed. This involves testing for moisture, protein and test weight to determine the overall quality. Advanced analyzers, including the latest Inframatic model, are key to this process, delivering fast and accurate results for management.
One of the technologies used in analyzers is the Unified Grain Moisture Algorithm (UGMA) which gives the best moisture measurement. This algorithm is critical to provide data farmers and manufacturers can trust. Regular maintenance and calibration of these instruments is essential to maintain their accuracy and get consistent results. By using these advanced analytical solutions the agricultural industry can maintain high standards of quality and safety.
Whether you’re harvesting, storing or trading, nothing is more important to its value than its content and test weight. The falling number method is critical to determine sprout damage and alpha-amylase activity to ensure product quality throughout the supply chain.

The mini GAC® technology is based on the commercial and laboratory moisture tester Series GAC2100. This whole grain moisture tester has an internal scale to eliminate pre-weighing and no screw caps to deal with. Moisture range is 5–45% depending on type, temperature range of 32–122°F (0–50°C). Sample size is approximately 1 pint and can hold 20 twenty-grain calibrations: Corn, Corn-High Moisture, Barley 6-Row, Barley 2-Row, Durum, Hard Red Winter Wheat, Hard Red Spring Wheat, Millet, Oats, Rapeseed, Rye, Safflower, Soft Red Winter Wheat, Sorghum, Soybeans, Sunflower Oil and four (4) empty settings but user can choose from over 450 settings. This device helps determine optimal harvest timing and aid farmers in making profitable decisions. Additionally, for specific needs such as coffee moisture testing, the Agratronix Coffee Moisture Tester Model 08150 is a portable device designed to measure the moisture content of green and parchment coffee beans.
The tester can display in 16 languages: English (US, UK, and AU), Spanish, French, Italian, German, Portuguese, Turkish and other European languages (specify when ordering).
Available in two models, the Model GACMINI-P displays moisture percentage, temperature and approximate weight readings. Each unit includes 9V battery, carrying case, funnel assembly, belt clips and instruction manual.
The Model GACMINI-L displays moisture readings.
Each unit includes 9V battery and funnel assembly.

Understanding Grain Moisture
Grain moisture is one of the most critical factors influencing every stage of the lifecycle—from harvest to storage, drying, and trading. Accurately measuring content is essential for maintaining quality, preventing spoilage, and ultimately maximizing farm profits. A reliable grain moisture tester, such as the DICKEY-john GAC 2700-Agri, is indispensable for farmers and handlers who need to make informed decisions about their commodities.
The accuracy of a moisture tester depends heavily on it. With the GAC 2700-Agri, users benefit from a wide range of pre-set settings, including specialized options like “Hot Corn” for testing straight from the dryer or even frozen samples. This versatility ensures that you can trust your moisture readings, no matter the condition. Accurate grain calibration is key to getting consistent, reliable results that help you optimize drying times, reduce waste, and protect the value of your harvest.
Beyond just content, advanced grain moisture testers like the GAC 2700-Agri also provide weight measurements and the ability to store thousands of sample results. With the capacity to store up to 3,000 results, you can easily track and review your data over time. The unit’s multiple USB ports make it simple to export data, connect USB devices, and perform software upgrades, ensuring your equipment stays up to date and ready for any challenge. This level of connectivity and data management is a game-changer for modern operations. For accurate grain test weight measurements in the field, a hand-held digital test weight scale is also an essential tool.
Ease of use is another crucial factor when selecting a moisture tester. The GAC 2700-Agri features a large, bright, color touchscreen that makes it easy to read and operate, even for users who are new to analysis technology. Its intuitive interface and robust design mean you can rely on it in the field or at the elevator, regardless of conditions.
Features and Benefits
Analyzers have several key features that make them a must-have in handling operations. They are accurate, reliable and robust and can analyze various items like wheat, barley, corn and rice. The detailed results from these analyzers like protein maps and content are very useful for quality control and production optimization.
Using analyzers helps to profit by producing only high quality and minimize waste. They play a crucial role in quality control, allowing to evaluate raw materials and finished products. The importance of analysis cannot be overstated as it ensures they are safe for human consumption and animal feed. By incorporating these advanced analytical solutions in their operations agricultural businesses can increase their efficiency and profitability.
