Dayton Superior Tilt Bracket, 7in
Category: Accessories | Tilt-Up Construction Brand: Dayton Superior
Upgrade your tilt-up construction projects with the Dayton Superior Tilt Bracket™ — a patented forming system (US Patent #8186645) built for speed, precision, and cost savings. Designed to replace traditional, labor-intensive wood forming methods, this innovative system uses lightweight, reusable plastic components to streamline your workflow and significantly reduce material waste on the job site.
The system is made up of two key components: a heavy-duty reusable plastic bracket and a disposable, adhesive-backed shoe plate. The shoe plate adheres firmly to the casting slab, creating a stable anchor point, while the bracket snaps securely into place — no drilling, nailing, or extensive bracing required. With a maximum recommended spacing of 18 inches on center, the Tilt Bracket™ system delivers structural stability while keeping material costs to a minimum.
Key Features & Benefits
Patented Tilt-Up Forming System: Engineered for speed and accuracy, this cutting-edge system eliminates the need for cumbersome wood forms, helping crews complete projects faster and with fewer resources. The patented design has been field-tested and proven across a wide range of tilt-up construction applications.
Lightweight & Reusable Brackets: Made from high-impact, durable plastic, these brackets are easy to handle on site and can be reused across multiple projects, delivering significant long-term savings and reducing on-site waste. Their lightweight design also reduces physical strain on workers during installation and removal.
High-Strength Adhesive Shoe Plate: The single-use shoe plate features a powerful adhesive base that bonds firmly to the casting slab without the need for mechanical fasteners. This prevents shifting or movement during the pour, ensuring your forms stay perfectly aligned from start to finish. Shoe plates are sold separately (V092.123465-Carton).
Versatile Sizing for Various Applications: The Tilt Bracket™ system is available in two sizes to suit common lumber dimensions and a wide range of slab thicknesses:
5" Bracket: Ideal for form heights ranging from 5" to 7". (Sold separately)
7" Bracket: Designed for form heights ranging from 7" to 11". (This product)
Both sizes are compatible with standard lumber dimensions such as 2x6, 2x8, 2x10, and 2x12 boards, making them a flexible choice for a variety of project requirements.
Cost & Labor Efficient: The quick snap-in installation dramatically reduces labor time compared to traditional forming methods. Combined with the recommended 18" spacing and the long-term reusability of the brackets, contractors can expect meaningful reductions in both material and labor costs over the life of the product.
Clean & Damage-Free Removal: Because the brackets snap into a disposable shoe plate rather than being fastened directly to the slab, they can be removed quickly and cleanly after the concrete cures. This leaves the slab surface intact and ready for the next phase of construction, with no patching or repair work needed.
Compatible with Standard Construction Practices: The Tilt Bracket™ system is designed to integrate seamlessly into existing tilt-up construction workflows, requiring no specialized tools or training. Its intuitive snap-in design means even new crew members can get up to speed quickly.
How It Works & Best Practices
Prepare the Surface: Ensure the casting slab surface is clean, dry, and free of dust, debris, or moisture for optimal adhesion of the shoe plate. If necessary, use a clean cloth or compressed air to remove any contaminants before installation.
Position the Shoe Plate: Mark your form lines and apply the adhesive-backed shoe plates along the layout at a maximum spacing of 18 inches on center. Press firmly on each shoe plate for several seconds to ensure a strong bond with the slab surface.
Install the Bracket & Form Board: Snap each 7" Tilt Bracket™ firmly into its corresponding shoe plate until it clicks securely into place. Insert your form board — such as a 2x8 or 2x12 — into the brackets, ensuring it sits flush and level before proceeding.
Pour Concrete: Proceed with your concrete pour with confidence, knowing your forms are securely anchored and properly aligned. The high-strength adhesive shoe plates and snap-in brackets are designed to withstand the lateral pressure of wet concrete without shifting.
Strip the Forms: Once the concrete has fully cured, remove the form boards and snap the brackets out of the shoe plates. Brackets can be cleaned with water and stored for reuse on future jobs. The shoe plates will remain adhered to the slab and can be easily scraped off or left in place, depending on project requirements.
Store for Future Use: After cleaning, store the reusable brackets in a dry, sheltered location to prolong their lifespan and maintain performance on future projects.
