Technical Details

Typical Contaminants Removed Chem-Crest ProPass is formulated to remove light oils, grease, general workshop soils, and surface contaminants. It excels at removing light to moderate scales and oxides. Pro-Tip: To maximize the effectiveness and lifespan of your passivation bath, it is highly recommended to perform a preliminary ultrasonic cleaning cycle to remove heavy oils and gross contamination before the passivation step.

Operating Conditions For optimal performance, follow these guidelines:

• Recommended Dilution:
  • Standard Passivation: 10–20% by volume with water.
  • Heavy Descaling: Up to 25% by volume with water.
• Operating Temperature: 150°–180°F (65°–82°C) is ideal for most applications.
• Passivation Times (based on temperature):
  • 140°–160°F (60°–71°C): Minimum of 4 minutes.
  • 120°–140°F (49°–60°C): Minimum of 10 minutes.
  • 70°–120°F (21°–49°C): Minimum of 20 minutes.
• Rinsing: Use clean, deionized water at a recommended temperature of 100°–150°F (38°–65°C) for thorough rinsing post-passivation.

• Important Note for Ferrous Metals: Non-stainless steel ferrous surfaces are susceptible to flash rusting after treatment. They must be protected immediately with a suitable rust inhibitor.
