The DVNext Wells-Brookfield Cone/Plate Rheometer is an advanced tool designed for precise measurement of absolute viscosity in small fluid samples. Its cone and plate geometry ensures high accuracy, making it ideal for generating detailed rheological data.
How It Works
This rheometer operates as a precise torque meter, driven at specific rotational speeds. A calibrated beryllium-copper spring connects the drive mechanism to a rotating cone, and the system measures the resistance to rotation caused by the sample fluid between the cone and a stationary plate. This resistance generates torque, directly proportional to the shear stress in the fluid. The resulting viscosity is easily converted to centipoise (mPa·s) using pre-calculated charts or calculated from the cone geometry, rotation rate, and torque.
Setting the correct cone and plate position is straightforward, requiring no external gauges or additional tools. The stationary plate doubles as the bottom of a sample cup, which holds 0.5 to 2.0 mL of fluid, depending on the cone used. The sample cup is temperature-controlled via a jacket with fittings for a circulating bath. The system is highly reliable, offering ±1.0% accuracy and ±0.2% reproducibility, with a working temperature range of 0°C to 100°C.
The instrument comes with a calibrated cone spindle and supports additional spindles for flexibility. These spindles are calibrated specifically for use with the provided sample cup.
