The DVNext Wells-Brookfield Cone/Plate Rheometer is a high-performance instrument designed for precise measurement of absolute viscosity in small sample volumes. Featuring cone and plate geometry, it ensures the accuracy needed for comprehensive rheological data collection.

How It Works

The DVNext Rheometer operates as a highly accurate torque meter, rotating at specific speeds. A calibrated beryllium-copper spring connects the torque system to a cone, which rotates while a sample fluid rests between the cone and a stationary flat plate. The fluid's resistance to rotation generates torque proportional to the shear stress, enabling viscosity calculations.

Viscosity can be easily measured in absolute centipoise (mPa·s) using pre-calculated charts or by combining the cone's geometry, rotation rate, and torque. The cone and plate positioning is straightforward, requiring no external tools or gauges. The removable sample cup holds 0.5 to 2.0 mL of fluid (depending on the cone used) and can be seamlessly reattached without affecting calibration. The jacketed cup also connects to a temperature-controlled circulating bath for precise thermal regulation.

This system delivers an accuracy of ±1.0% of the full-scale range and repeatability within ±0.2%. The operating temperature ranges from 0°C to 100°C. A variety of cone spindles are available, with one included and pre-calibrated for the corresponding sample cup. Additional spindles are available for purchase and calibration.
