Soil Testing with the Automatic Mechanical Soil Compactor
Mechanical Soil Compactor
The Mechanical Soil Compactor streamlines lab operations by automating hammer blow counts and shutting off when the preset number is reached. Designed to improve accuracy, ease of use, reliability, and safety, this compactor eliminates the repetitive manual labor of traditional compaction hammers. It ensures precise, evenly distributed hammer blows for each soil layer in the mold, delivering uniform compaction and repeatable, accurate test results.
The unit features automatic turntable indexing for consistent hammer drops and a reliable chain-drive lift system that adjusts for soil thickness during compaction. Its hammer design, with concentrated mass near the bottom, maximizes energy transfer to the soil specimen.
The compactor is compatible with 4in (102mm) molds using a 5.5lb (2.5kg) hammer with a 12in (305mm) drop. It also accommodates 6in (152mm) molds with either a 5.5lb weight and 12in drop or a 10lb (4.5kg) weight and 18in (457mm) drop. A pie-faced hammer option ensures full coverage of the sample surface in 6in molds.
Included with the Mechanical Soil Compactor:
- 5.5lb (2.5kg) round hammer
- 10lb (4.5kg) pie-faced hammer
- Surcharge weight to increase hammer weight to 10lb
