S-Type Load Cells are designed to measure both tension and compression forces, making them ideal for geotechnical and construction materials testing. They are available in capacities from 500 to 20,000 lbf (2.2 to 89 kN) and include a four-wire cable for connection to two-channel or four-channel data readout devices (sold separately). These load cells feature top and bottom threaded mounting holes for versatile setup.
Applications:
- Compression Tests: Mounted between the load frame and test apparatus or penetration piston for tests like unconfined compression or CBR/LBR.
- Direct Shear Tests: Measure both tension and compression by mounting between the shear box and the loading frame's fixed point.
- Other Tests: Suitable for triaxial shear, Marshall stability, indirect tensile, Lottman, SCB, and similar tests requiring uniform contact between the load cell and fixtures.
