S-Type Load Cells are designed to measure both tension and compression forces, making them ideal for geotechnical and construction materials testing. These versatile sensors are available in capacities from 500 to 20,000lbf (2.2 to 89kN) and include a four-wire cable for outputting voltage signals compatible with two-channel or four-channel data readout systems (sold separately). They feature threaded mounting holes on the top and bottom for secure installation.
- Compression Tests: Mount the load cell between the load frame and testing apparatus, such as in unconfined compression or CBR/LBR tests.
- Direct-Shear Tests: Use the load cell between the shear box and a fixed point on the loading frame to measure both compression and tension.
- Other Applications: For tests like triaxial shear, Marshall stability, indirect tensile, Lottman, or SCB, ensure uniform contact between the load cell and testing fixtures.
