4in Unbonded Capping Neoprene Pad Cap, 90 Durometer

4in Neoprene Compression Pads for Concrete Cylinder Testing

4in (101.6mm) Neoprene Pads are designed to provide reliable compressive strength testing for 4x8in concrete cylinders. Available in 50, 60, 70, or 90 durometers, they meet the stringent requirements of ASTM C1231/1231M and AASHTO T 22 standards. These pads are essential for ensuring accurate and uniform load distribution by flowing during compression to fill any irregularities in the cylinder ends.

Each pad is 0.5in (12.7mm) thick and can be reused for up to 100 tests, making them a cost-effective solution for repeated testing. The pads are sold individually or in packs of 12, providing flexibility based on your testing needs. Note that two Neoprene Pads are required for each test, and a 4in Steel Retainer Set (sold separately) is needed to securely contain the pads at both ends of the concrete cylinder during testing.

Durometer Options and Strength Compatibility

Neoprene Pads are available in various hardness levels (durometer) to suit concrete strengths across a wide range:

  • 50 Durometer: Ideal for concrete with design strengths of 1,500 to 6,000 psi (10 to 41 MPa)
  • 60 Durometer: Suitable for design strengths of 2,500 to 7,000 psi (17 to 48 MPa)
  • 70 Durometer: Designed for concrete with strengths ranging from 4,000 to 12,000 psi (27 to 82 MPa)
  • 90 Durometer: Recommended for high-strength concrete testing from 12,000 to 15,000 psi (82 to 103 MPa)

The 90 Durometer Pads are specifically engineered to handle high-strength concrete, providing exceptional performance in extreme compressive testing scenarios.

Features and Advantages

  • Reusable Design: Each pad can be reused for up to 100 tests, reducing waste and costs.
  • Accurate Load Distribution: The compressive flow of the pads ensures even load application by filling gaps and irregularities in cylinder ends.
  • Meets Industry Standards: Fully compliant with ASTM C1231/1231M and AASHTO T 22 requirements, ensuring reliable and consistent testing results.
  • Multiple Hardness Options: Choose from a range of durometers to match the specific strength of your concrete samples.

Required Components

To conduct compressive strength testing of concrete cylinders, the following components are necessary:

  • Two Neoprene Pads (sold individually or in packs of 12)
  • 4in Steel Retainer Set (sold separately), which holds the pads securely in place during testing

Applicable Standards

Neoprene Pads are fully compliant with the following test methods:

  • AASHTO T 22: Compressive Strength of Cylindrical Concrete Specimens
  • ASTM C1231/1231M: Use of Unbonded Caps in Determination of Compressive Strength of Hardened Concrete Cylinders

Whether you're conducting routine compressive strength testing or working with high-strength concrete, Neoprene Compression Pads offer durability, accuracy, and compliance to meet your testing needs.
