The Basic Concrete Compression Machines are designed for strength testing of concrete cylinders, cubes, beams, cores, and grout prisms. These versatile, cost-effective machines are manually operated, making them ideal for a wide range of concrete testing applications.
Built with a welded steel frame and solid steel crossheads, they exceed ACI 363 standards for system rigidity. The integrated electric motor and hydraulic pump system operate at variable speeds to achieve and maintain the required test pressure. This energy-efficient setup minimizes heat buildup and extends the lifespan of hydraulic components.
The Windows-based human-machine interface (HMI) simplifies operation. Users can select test protocols, view real-time force, stress, and load rate data, and print or transfer results. The interface also allows for setup, calibration, diagnostics, and real-time graphing of load vs. time or stress vs. strain. For enhanced data management, the machines are compatible with the Gilson Guardian Cloud Sharing Application (sold separately), enabling cloud storage and seamless project communication.
To perform compressive strength testing, the operator manually controls the load application. A four-position lever valve advances the piston to seat the cylinder and apply the preload. The valve is then switched to the metered position for precise load rate adjustments. The maximum compressive strength is recorded automatically when the load drops below the preset percentage of the peak load.
Safety is a key feature of these machines. A hydraulic safety relief valve prevents overloading, while a travel limit switch stops piston movement beyond limits. Hinged Lexan fragment doors offer clear visibility and added protection during operation.
Each unit comes ready for compression testing of 6x12in (152.4x304.8mm) concrete cylinders with unbonded neoprene capping pads and steel retainers (supplied by the user). Accessories are available to adapt the machine for testing additional sample types, such as beams, cubes, cores, and grout prisms. The machines operate on 110V, 60Hz power.
